Want to get involved with Harrison Bay State Park?
Why get involved with Harrison Bay?
Maybe you have necessary volunteer hours for your school or civic group, or need to find a place to just get out in the world and feel like you are making a difference. Maybe you would just like to spend some time outdoors, getting to know our rangers, or learning more about the park. Whatever your reason, we appreciate your interest, and would like to work with you to try to make the volunteer time you spend at our park an experience you will enjoy.
Q. How do I start?
A. Please contact us and we can talk about the size of your group (are you volunteering as an individual or a group leader). From there we can work to get some projects lined up that meet the needs of your group, and maximize the efforts to the benefit of the park.
Q. Do I have to wait for a group, or a certain day to volunteer?
A. No! We are glad to have your help anytime. For individual volunteers that are not coming on a specific day, or with an organized event it might be more difficult to tackle large projects or coordinate specifics, but we are happy to work with you.
Q. What do I need to do to prepare for volunteering.
A. Please make sure that if you are going to volunteer you bring weather appropriate clothing, and anything you need to make yourself comfortable for the type of job we are doing (if we are hiking wear good shoes, bring water, and seasonal gear etc…). If you are planning to bring any tools please coordinate with us first to make sure that it will not create hazardous situations, and to make sure that we don’t already have tools provided. Most importantly please have your volunteer registration form, and photo release completed before you get to the park. This will save time and energy so we don’t waist any of your effort when you get to the park.
