Remember the pancake breakfast tomorrow at the Rec Hall! $5 adults, $3 children, age 5 and under free. Proceeds will be used to benefit the programs and projects at the park. 8 am to 11 am. See you there!
We have started monitoring the bluebird trail, and the birds are already laying eggs in their boxes! The Friends group will monitor 41 boxes at The Bear Trace and 8 boxes at the state park. We will post our progress as we observe the behavior of the birds, deal with predators, and report our data to Cornell University Lab of Ornithology. If you would like to become a citizen scientist to report data about nests at your house, go to www.nestwatch.org and follow instructions to become a “Certified NestWatcher”. Your data will be included in their studies. For more information about nesting birds go to www.birds.cornell.edu or www.sialis.org. Happy bird watching!
